Individual staff and students are encouraged to give back and especially to the less fortunate in society. On June 21, 2014, Mr. B. D. Njuguna, a senior assistant registrar at the Board of Postgraduate Studies, joined members of WiyakeWakini Welfare Association, a group of professionals to a visitof Destined Children Centre, Kikuyu in Kiambu County.

Board of Postgraduate Studies (BPS) staff in an environmental conservation exercise

In support of the Government's committment to increase the country's forest cover beyond 10%, staff of BPS led by the Director, Prof. Eunice Mutitu, on May 3, 2013, joined scouts and members of the Kenya Defence Forces in planting over 2,000 tree seedlings at the University's Ngong Forest Field Station.
