Degrees by University of Nairobi are globally recognized and the University of Nairobi graduates being the most preferred by employers.

According to Prof. David Some, Secretary, Commission for University Education, CUE, it is not true, that the degrees issued by Kenyan Universities between 2012 and 2016 are useless as had been alleged in some sections of the media. He added that the mandate of the commission is to accredit University courses and carry out audits on a regular basis. The audits are basically pointing out areas of weaknesses to enable the universities to improve quality of education.

Speaking during a live television program on NTV, hosted at the Town Hall at Daystar University, with panelists consisting of Prof. Peter Mbithi, Prof. Timothy Wachira (VC Daystar University), Prof. David Some (CEO Commission for Universty Education) and David Aduda (NTV Education Panelist), Prof. Peter Mbithi noted that University of Nairobi continues to produce holistic graduates for the job market. “Our graduates are in virtually every sector of the economy, both locally and globally“, he noted.

Prof. Mbithi noted that University of Nairobi Management was indeed pleased with the audit by CUE. He said that the audits are part of the larger process to help Universities improve their service delivery and to serve the public better. He cautioned the media against diluting the good work being done by the commission.
