Prof. Wolciech Chacholski Gives 3 Day Course On Topological Data Analysis to Graduate Students

Prof. Wojciech Chachólski, Department of Mathematics, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden, an algebraic topologist, but recently interested in mathematical aspects of Topological Data Analysis gave a course on how various homological tools can be used in artificial intelligence. The course was for graduate students both in pure and applied mathematics in the School of Mathematics, CBPS.

HIV/AIDS and Drug Abuse Sensitization

The Graduate School staff were taken through a HIV/AIDS and drug abuse sensitization session on Tuesday 13th November, 2018 at the Graduate School boardroom. The sensitization session was facilitated be Dr. Sanford Kinama, Lilian Sagini and Grace Kimani all from the University Health Services (UHS).

Training on PowerPoint Presentation

The Graduate School administrators were taken through a Training on PowerPoint Presenation on Friday 9th November, 2018, at the Graduate School boardroom. The training was facilitated by Dr. Solomon Derese a Lecturer at the Department of Chemistry.

Award of University of Nairobi Scholarships

The second group of University of Nairobi Scholarship Awardees received their scholarship in a meeting held on Tuesday 6th November, 2018, at the University of Nairobi Towers. The awardees in the second group were from Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Agriculture, Population Studies and Research Institute, Institute of Development Studies, School of Computing and Informatics, Centre for Translation and Interpretation, School of Nursing, School of Education, School of Biological Sciences, School of Pharmacy and Centre for Advanced Studied in Environmental Law and Policy.

Gandhi Smarak Nidhi Fund – PhD Scholarships, Invitation for Applications

The Gandhi Smarak Nidhi Fund (GSNF) will offer three (3) PhD Scholarships to FEMALE students tenable at the University of Nairobi during the 2018/2019 academic year for programmes in the following Schools;

  1. School of Computing & Informatics
  2. School of Engineering
  3. School of Mathematics
  4. School of the Built Environment

Interested candidates are invited to apply for the scholarship and submit the application to the Graduate School by 16th November 2018.

CBPS 1st Annual Conference on Science for Development

The 1st Annual Conference on Science for Development was held on 24th to 25th October, 2018. The theme of the conference was Supporting Manufacturing, Affordable Housing, Universal Helathcare and Food Security. 10 Graduate students from College of Biological and Physical Sciences presented papers as listed below.

2nd Biennial Conference on the State of Higher Education in Kenya

The 2nd Biennial Conference on the State of Higher Education in Kenya began today at the Kenya School of Monetary Studies Nairobi. The event is hosted by the Commission for University Education. The theme of the conference is Positioning universities as the nexus of research, innovation and technology transfer for Socioeconomic Transformation. The conference will be held from 30th October to 2nd November, 2018.

University of Nairobi Scholarships Awarded

The first group of University of Nairobi scholarships awardees received their scholarships during a meeting held on Friday 26th October, 2018 at the University of Nairobi Towers, VIP Lounge on 5th Floor. The students were from School of Public Health, Institute of Nucleur Science and Technology, School of Arts and Design, School of Business, Institute of Climate Change and Adaptation, School of Medicine, Centre for Bioinformatics and Biotechnology, School of Mathematics, Wangari Maathai Institue, School of Economics and School of Phyisical Sciences.
